Maurice Strong (1929-2015) was a Canadian businessman in the extractive industries who also held key roles within the United Nations and global environmental governance. Strong was Secretary-General of the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm. He also served as the first Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Strong's career spanned both corporate, national and international policy spheres, positioning him as a central figure in the global energy, development, and environmental discourse of the 20th century. Strong was known and valued for his networking skills. This database contributes to our understanding of Strong's global network. It provides a structured dataset capturing all individuals mentioned in autobiographical book Where on Earth are we Going? (2001), their name, nationality, gender, role/s as relevant to the autobiography, and the frequency and the page number/s of their appearances in the text.

The dataset is publicly available on Cadmus, EUI Research Repository: https://hdl.handle.net/1814/92985
