Maurice Strong (1929–2015) was a Canadian businessman in the extractive industries who also held key roles within the United Nations and global environmental governance, such as Secretary-General of the 1972 United Nations Conference on the Human Environment in Stockholm and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). He was known for his networking skills.
